I am now a WPF developer

I took a new position this week as the plugin developer for our new product line. With this position, I will be writing custom plugins for our core product. The work will be done with WPF (XAML and C#), .NET web services, and SQL. This will give me a great background for any future endevours.

Plano Trip

I just returned this past Friday evening after a 2 week trip to Plano TX. As much time as I have spent there so far this year, I almost feel like I live there. The time there was very productive, having been able to spend a considerable time with our WPF developers. I am feeling extremely comfortable with WPF and XAML. While I was there, I was figured out how to create a generic method to return a selected value from a ListBox in WPF with C#. You can view the article here.

While I was there, I read a bunch of magazines. One of the ones I read was the National Geographic Changing Climate Special Report. It really helped instill in me an even deeper sense of urgency to reduce my carbon footprint on this earth. For me, I used to always just leave everything plugged in all the time. I had already started to unplug any adapter as soon as I was finished charging the attached device. We do use some green power here at home, but it is not very much. In the next year, I hope to greatly reduce my own emissions and am committed to doing so. It still amazes me that so many people say, I can’t make a difference. But if every person I have talked to would make a change, all that combined could make a huge impact.

With all the trouble my nephew has had this past week, it was very difficult to focus. I really wish I could have been there with him when he came out of surgery. I guess it is time I make up with my sister-in-law so that I can go visit.

Finally Recovered

Our trip to Los Cabo was probably the best vacation we have ever had. We get to stay at the Fiesta Americana with an excellent view of the beach. But on the flight home, we both ended up getting sick. After a day of recovery, we are back to our normal selves and able to continue on with our lives.

ATV tour in Cabo

We went and did the Baja ATV tour in Cabo on Sunday evening. Often people think of the desert as hot and dry, but often we overlook the beauty that is there. Anyone who makes it to Cabo should do the sunset tour with Baja ATV tours. Ask for Alberto, he was an awesome guide.

Sunrise in Cabo

How can anyone ask for a better way to start the day? This was sunrise over Cabo on Friday March 22nd 2008. We had a great day and a beautiful weekend.
